REASI, June 21: The annual 3 days Baba Aghar Jitto Mela, a vibrant celebration of cultural heritage and local traditions, was inaugurated today by Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Vishesh Mahajan, in the picturesque village of Aghar Jitto. This event, deeply rooted in the local customs and folklore, promises to be a spectacular showcase of the region’s rich cultural tapestry.
A highlight of the Mela is the array of departmental stalls set up by various departments, including Health, Fisheries, Agriculture, Sheep Husbandry, Sericulture, Self Help Groups and others. These stalls present an overview of both Central and J&K UT schemes, providing attendees with detailed information and the opportunity to take advantage of these initiatives. Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Mahajan personally inspected all the stalls to ensure their effective presentation.
Adding to the festive atmosphere, a cultural program was performed by students and local artists from Palthyar Nehru Youth Club Garhi, including a compelling play depicting the life of Baba Jitto. Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner highlighted the significance of the Mela in preserving and promoting the unique cultural heritage of the area. It is an opportunity for the community to come together, celebrate our shared history, and pass down these traditions to future generations.”
