SW Monsoon to further advance in Gujarat in next 3-4 days

PUNE, Jun 22 : Conditions are favourable for further advance of Southwest Monsoon into some more expanse of north Arabian Sea, Gujarat, remaining areas of Maharashtra, some more chunks of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar and some sites of east Uttar Pradesh during next 3-4 days, forecast the India Meteorological Department on Saturday.

The SW Monsoon was weaker over Arunachal Pradesh and Rayalaseema.

Heatwave conditions prevailed in isolated pockets of southwest Uttar Pradesh on Friday (yesterday).

Day temperatures were markedly above normal (5.1 degree Celsius or more) at isolated places of west Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat.

They were appreciably above norm (3.1 to 5.0 degree C) at isolated locales of east Uttar Pradesh, east Madhya Pradesh, Saurashtra, Kutch, Bihar and Jharkhand.

They were above par (1.6 to 3.0 degree C) at a few sectors of Konkan and Goa; at isolated locations of Uttarakhand, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Gangetic West Bengal, Telangana, Vidarbha, Marathwada and Madhya Maharashtra.

They were markedly below normal (5.1 degree C or less) at a few segments of Himachal Pradesh; at isolated terrains of Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, west Rajasthan and west Madhya Pradesh.

They were appreciably below norm (3.1 to 5.0 degree C) at isolated corners of Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

They were below par (1.6 to 3.0 degree C) at many slices of Punjab; at isolated nooks of east Rajasthan, Odisha, Kerala, Mahe, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal while near normal over remaining parts of the country.

Yesterday, the highest maximum temperature of 44.6 degree C was reported at Orai (west Uttar Pradesh) in north of the country.

Rain or thundershowers pounded at most divisions in Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Konkan, Goa, coastal Karnataka, Kerala, Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep.

They battered at many patches in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Odisha, Marathwada, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

They lashed at a few swathes in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Jharkhand, Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and interior south Karnataka.

They also hit at isolated niches in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Gangetic West Bengal, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, west Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Maharashtra, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu and interior north Karnataka.(UNI)
