RAJOURI, June 23: The Zonal Education Planning Officer (ZEPO) of Kotranka, Rajouri district, has initiated an inquiry and sought explanations from the head and staff (teachers) of a middle school following a viral video on social media that showed the school was locked during working hours on Friday.
In a show-cause notice issued to the head and staff of the Middle School at Kochajja (Daraman), ZEPO Kotranka said that parents and residents of the area visited the school during working hours on June 21, 2024, only to find it locked. This incident, captured in a video clip, has since gone viral on social media, prompting widespread concern about the school’s operation.
“Shockingly, the school was found locked, leaving a negative impression of our institution’s functioning,” stated the ZEPO in the notice.
It is pertinent to note that Middle School Kochajja (Daraman) falls under the winter zone of the Kotranka Education Zone and is operational despite summer holidays in other schools.
The ZEPO’s notice further started, “You all were unauthorisedly absent from your duties, being government employees. You cannot leave the station without obtaining permission from the competent authorities.”
The notice mandates that the head and staff of the school provide an explanation for their absence on June 21, 2024, within two days of the notice. “Failure to provide an appropriate response within the stipulated timeframe will be deemed as a violation of your professional conduct. This may lead to serious consequences, including disciplinary actions, which may result in the withholding of salary for the month of June or other coercive actions, depending on the gravity of the situation,” the notice further reads.
