JAMMU, June 23: ‘Ghar ki Baat’, an exhibition on a heritage home near Purani Mandi (Jammu) was inaugurated today by SM Sahni, Head of Jammu chapter of INTACH.
The 2-day exhibition is being organized by an architecture and design firm blurck21 that attempts to unpack a heritage home in the old city of Jammu. A collection of drawings, photographs, digital models, artwork, and objects is on display for the public 5:30 pm today to 7 pm of June 24 at 241 Dewan Bishandas Street, Link Road, Jammu.
The exhibition portrays digital models showing how spaces can be preserved on virtual reality. It shows the collaborative work of a team of six architects, designers, and artists from across India who engaged with the house during a 5-day documentation workshop mentored by Anindya Raina, Bhavya Jain, Chintan Mewada, and facilitated by blurck21, a multidisciplinary design and architecture firm.
The participants are Jivika Sachdev, Anav Sharma, and Sharl Pear. SM Sahni, while speaking, discussed the importance of heritage and possibilities of heritage management for future generations. The event was also graced by Arvind Kotwal and Kirpal Singh, stalwarts of heritage conservation and management in Jammu.
The exhibition gave an insight to the attendees about the current condition of heritage in the city and methods and techniques possible for future conservation of both culture and buildings.
