Srinagar, June 23: The water pipeline from Butapathri to Kallus in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district has been damaged, prompting authorities to rush to the spot for repairs.
According to authorities, the damage to the 250mm pipeline could potentially affect nearly 10 water supply schemes operational in the Sub Division Baramulla and Kreeri.
Officials told Excelsior that the damage was likely due to increased pressure, and as soon as they were informed, the concerned teams were dispatched to the area to ensure timely repairs and other necessary measures.
“All precautionary measures have been taken; our men are carrying out the repairs, and tanker facilities have been put in place to ensure that people receive the required water supply,” Er Aijaz Ahmad, Executive Engineer of Jal Shakti Division Baramulla, told Excelsior.
The officials noted that while the team is busy ensuring timely repairs of the damaged pipeline, a detailed report on the incident and the progress on repairs is still awaited. They also emphasized that they will ensure the general public does not face hardships.
