Notorious burglar held with stolen property worth lakhs

JAMMU, June 24: Police in Sidhra area falling under the jurisdiction of Police Station Nagrota claimed today they have arrested a notorious burglar and recovered from his possession stolen property worth several lakhs.
A police official said that a complaint was received from one Mohammad Farooq son of Ghulam Qadir of Mahore, Reasi, at present Asrarabad on June 22 that some unknown persons committed theft in his current residence and decamped with one gold set, two rings, 2 earrings, and one ball tab, and a bag valuing approximately Rs 4 lakh.
On this, he said, a case FIR number 183/2024 under sections 454, 380 of the IPC was registered at Police Station Nagrota and investigation taken up.
During investigation, a police party of Police Post Sidhra headed by PSI Arun Sharma under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Aakash Kohli assisted by SHO Nagrota Inspector Rajeshwar Singh under the overall supervision of SP Rural Brijesh Sharma rounded up one suspect identified as Mohammad Sajjad of Gool Ramban, at present Asrarabad, Sidhra.
During sustained questioning, the suspect confessed to his involved in the crime and on his disclosure, the stolen gold and other items worth approximately Rs 4 lakh were recovered and handed over to the rightful owner, he said.
Further investigation in the case is underway, added the police official.
