RTO tightens noose around traffic violators, challans 103 vehicles

JAMMU, June 25: Continuing vigorous enforcement drive against the instances of overloading of passenger vehicles and other major violations, teams of Motor Vehicles Department launched special enforcement drives and laid Nakas in and around Jammu Srinagar Highway and Jammu city.
The drive was conducted under the guidance of Pankaj Bhagotra, RTO, Jammu.
The special focus of today drive was to check overcharging by auto rickshaws at various spots like railway station, Bhagwati Nagar, not to fleece pilgrimage or other tourists during upcoming holy Amarnath yatra.
During the drive 103 vehicles were e-challaned under sections viz a viz 194D-(Without Helmet), 66/192A-(R/P Violations), 190(1I)-(Without Pollution), 194A-(Overload Passengers), 179-(Disobedience), 194B-(Without Seat Belt), 177- (General Offence), 146/196-(Without Insurance), 56/192-(Fitness Violations), 184-(Dangerous Driving), Wrong Parking, SLD violations, Unauthorized Alterations, 194 C Triple Riding, 39/192- (R/c violations), 1941A Overhang, Passenger in Goods Vehicle etc.
A fine of Rs. 240900 (Two lakh forty Thousand Nine Hundred only) was imposed on violators.
Besides 7 Driving licenses under various offences recommended for suspension, while 96 notices were also served to various violators to provide them an opportunity of being heard and their D.L shall be suspended online after completion of notice period.
The enforcement team were comprised of Rehana Tabassam, ARTO (HQr), Kuldeep Singh ARTO (B.0.I-P) Jammu, Mudassir Igbal, ARTO(B.0.I-G) Jammu, Motor Vehicles Inspectors, Vikas Srivats, Surinder Kumar, Jasbir Singh, Jagandeep Singh, SMVI Amanish Sharma and MVTA Tarunjot Singh.
