JAMMU, Mar 25: President Jammu and Kashmir Ex-Services League, Major Gen Goverdhan Singh Jamwal, Ex-MLC and his core group welcomed the Supreme Court directions to allow serving defence personnel and their families to vote at their respective places of posting.
It was resolved to approach the Army authorities to ensure cent percent voting by the soldiers and their families so that they do not only exercise their democratic rights but also can make a difference in favour of those who watch their interests particularly in the State.
It is hoped that the soldiers and their families vote only for such candidates who are pro-armed forces and have been supporting the services demands of VAT exemption in Canteens, Job reservation of 15 percent for ESM, land for housing colonies, establishment of a Sainik Welfare Ministry and revival of Ex-Servicemen Co-operative beside the One Rank One Pension to the Armed Forces.
The meeting discussed in detail the impact of the decision in J&K State which has large concentration of troops and families.
The president also exhorted the veterans and their families to vote cent percent in this election for their candidates.
