Urdu Conference concludes with exciting Mushaira

JAMMU, Mar 25: On the second and concluding day of the 2-day Urdu Conference, organized by the J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages, six research papers were presented in the two sessions today. The papers were thoroughly discussed during question-answer sessions.
The first paper was presented by Dr. Ayaz Rasool Nazki on Urdu poets of Kashmir, the second by Prof. Asadullal Wani on Urdu poets of Jammu and the third by Dr. Nazir Azad on Challenges confronting Urdu ghazal in J&K.
In the post-lunch session, Dr. Premi Romani, and Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad Wani presented papers on Urdu Nazm (poem) in J&K and post-1947 Urdu poetry in J&K, respectively.
The first session was presided over by Prof Rattan Lal Shant and Prof B N Trisal while Ghulam Nabi Khayal and Dr Jiteinder Udhampuri presided over the second session.
The audience, present in large numbers, took keen interest in the proceedings of the conference and asked questions and gave observations on the papers. Prominent writers and poets sat through the proceedings and made the conference lively through their interventions and opinions.
In the afternoon, an All-Jammu Urdu Mushaira was held as the concluding part of the conference. Poets who recited their verses and received applause from the audience include Arsh Sehbayi, Vidya Ratan Aasi, Pritpal Singh Betab, Sabir Mirza, Khurshid Kazmi, Balraj Bakhshi, Raj Kumar Chandan, Betab Jaipuri, Aseer Kishtwari, Manshoor Banihali, Khalid Karaar, Pervaiz Malik, Amin Banihali, Mohan Singh Ulfat, Sagar Sehrayee, Sham Talib, Sheikh Sajad Poonchi, Ushaq Kishtwari, Tanveer Bhadarwahi, Rahat Hussain Rahat, Omar Farhat, Ghulam Nabi Ghafil and Omkar Raina.
Noted poet Arsh Sehbayee presided over the proceedings of the mushaira while Dr. Shahnawaz conducted the proceedings.
