JKSSB exam paper leak case: CBI court extends remand of alleged kingpin

JAMMU, July 1: A CBI Court here extended the remand of alleged kingpin of the 2022 JKSSB Sub-Inspector recruitment exam paper leak, for four days under Enforcement Directorate (ED) custody.
Yatin Yadav, 43, the key accused in the case, was produced virtually before the court of Special Judge CBI Bala Jyoti today by Investigating Officer (IO) of the case, Rahul Verma, Deputy Director of the ED, who requested a 7-day extension Under Section 187 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023 and Section 65 of the PMLA, 2002.
The accused, arrested on June 24 Under Section 19 of the PMLA, was implicated in FIR RC0042022A0008, registered by the CBI Jammu on September 3, 2022, Under Sections 120-B and 420 of the IPC.
Special Judge Bala Joyti reviewed the case diaries, the medical examination conducted by Dr Sunil Bhagat, and heard arguments from Special PP Ashwani Khajuria for the ED and Asheesh Singh Kotwal for the accused.
The court found that the investigation, initiated on March 31, 2023, was still in its early stages and Yadav, involved in serious economic offences, required further questioning.
Accordingly, Yadav was remanded to ED custody for four days starting July 1.
The court directed regular medical examinations and reminded Yadav of his right to legal counsel and medical aid.
The IO was instructed to expedite the investigation and produce Yadav in court via virtual mode after the remand period.
