JAMMU, July 2: Anand Jain, the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Jammu Zone, inaugurated the upgraded “Technical Support Unit” at Police Component Gandhi Nagar, Jammu.
The event saw participation of senior officials, including Dr Sunil Gupta, DIG JSK Range; Dr Vinod Kumar, SSP Jammu; and Kameshwar Puri, SP PC Jammu.
A statement said that the new unit aims to enhance the police’s ability to combat cyber-crimes and cyber terrorism.
SP Cyber Police Component Kameshwar Puri briefed the attendees on the unit’s upgraded capabilities, designed to assist district cyber teams and extend their reach in resolving cyber issues, especially in remote areas.
SSP Dr Vinod Kumar highlighted the unit’s 24/7 operation capabilities and state-of-the-art technology, which will expedite the handling of cyber-crimes.
DIG Dr Sunil Gupta emphasized the unit’s role in tackling modern cybercrime challenges, such as frauds via the dark web and encrypted social media.
ADGP Anand Jain stressed the importance of the facility in ensuring prompt and professional investigation of cyber-crime complaints.
Equipped with high-speed internet and data connectivity, the unit promises round-the-clock detection and prevention of cyber threats. The staff, trained in various modules, is also prepared to address emerging cyber threats effectively.
