DC initiates urgent flood protection measures in Khour Sub Division

JAMMU, July 2: In anticipation of the monsoon season and to address public concerns, Deputy Commissioner Sachin Kumar Vaishya conducted a field visit to Indri and Bakore villages to assess the current ground situation. He was accompanied by SSP Dr. Vinod Kumar and ADDC Sher Singh.
The villages are facing significant risk of soil erosion and potential water ingress. To address these issues promptly, the DC ordered immediate execution of works worth Rs 10 lakh by the Flood Control Department.
In addition, further preventive measures will be implemented under MGNREGA by the Rural Development Department, focusing on creating protective bunds and crate work.
Sub-Divisional Magistrate Satish Sharma has also taken the initiative to assemble emergency relief and evacuation teams. Four emergency shelters have been established to facilitate a prompt response in the event of any unforeseen circumstances. Commencing today, the groundwork for implementing flood protection measures has been initiated in accordance with the directions issued by the Deputy Commissioner.
Meanwhile, District Administration provided support to victims affected by the recent fire accident near Trikuta Nagar.
Under the directions of Deputy Commissioner Sachin Kumar Vaishya, a team led by Additional Deputy Commissioner Ansuya Jamwal, who is also the Executive Secretary of the District Red Cross Society, conducted a site visit and took sympathetic assessment and interacted with the affected families.
Financial assistance, besides essential items, including ration, utensils, clothing and other necessities were also distributed. The families received assurances of continuous support from the administration.
