JMC’s civic workers submit memo to Labour Commissioner

JAMMU, Mar 27: Demanding re-election of the Civic Safai Karamchari Union (CSKU), Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), hundreds of civic workers today met Labour Commissioner and presented memorandum.
Amid slogans, the civic workers led by Dev Anand Gill, State president Akhil Bhartiya Safai Mazdoor Sangh (ABSMS) and member of National Minority Committee, Government of India assembled outside the office of Labour Commissioner and submitted a memorandum to him.
Addressing the media persons, Gill said that civic workers who elected the union have expressed grave concern over rampant corruption, mis-management and self-styled way of working opted by Civic Safai Karamchari Union, Jammu Municipal Corporation.
He said that employees of JMC particularly the safai-karamcharis are fed up with the corrupt practice and un-democratic means opted by present president of the union and demand re-election of the union.
Gill further told that the present president and his few allies were involved in corruption and exploited the poor civic workers, while demanding Rs 30,000 to Rs 50,000 for appointment in JMC as casual on Rs 3,300 per month.
