Stop recovery of commutation amount: Pensioners to Govt

SRINAGAR, July 4: A meeting of Pensioners and Senior Citizens Welfare Society UT of J&K was held under the chairmanship of its president, Mir Ghulam Rasool Botvani in which threadbare discussions were held on various issues.
The meeting appealed to the LG administration to settle demands of pensioners and senior citizens. It said that the recovery of commutation amount taken by the pensioners should be stopped from 10 to 13 years on the pattern of Gujarat Government and Punjab and Haryana Governments as the Government is recovering excess amount from the pensioners. The excess amount recovered after 10 years may also be refunded to the pensioners.
The meeting urged that the enhancement of pension @ 5%,10%, and 15% from the age of 65, 70 and 75 years may be immediately considered for J&K pensioners as this demand has been agreed by the Central Government to its pensioners recently besides five states in India have already granted this enhancement of pension.
They also demanded enhancement of Medical Allowance @ 1000/- per month already applicable to all Central Government employees and pensioners besides they urged to the Government that the G P Fund final bills and Gratuity amount bills pending in various Treasuries and pensioners are suffering for want of their own money which needs to be released immediately.
The meeting was attended by Sheikh Gulam Mohiuddin Shilvati, general secretary, D N Sadhu, State secretary , Comrade Baldev Raj and other members.
