SRINAGAR, June 30: Minister for Medical Education, Youth Services and Sports R S Chib today said that Government was planning to upgrade the Department of Ophthalmology, Government Medical College, Srinagar to Regional Institute of Ophthalmology for providing better medicare facilities to patients suffering from eye diseases.
This was stated by the Minister while addressing valedictory function of 2-day ACOIN IVth National Continuing Medical Education (CME) Session-2012 here at SKICC.
The Minister said that land measuring 13 kanals has already been earmarked at Dewan Bagh adjacent to GMC, Srinagar for the construction of Regional Institute of Ophthalmology, adding that the Union Government would be approached for funding.
Chib said that organizing such conferences and session are very beneficial for the professionals dealing with the medical profession in up-dating their knowledge as the medical science is gaining advancement rapidly. He hoped that the deliberations during the 2-day CME session will also be fruitful for the participants in up- dating their knowledge. He said such technical sessions during the conferences and workshops play key role for understanding the problems and creating awareness among masses.
The Minister said that besides construction of two Super Specialty hospitals one each at Jammu and Srinagar, two maternity hospitals with full fledge Pediatrics units are also coming-up for providing better medicare facilities to the people of the State.
The Minister also released Souvenir of 4th National CME-2012 on the occasion.
