Cops detain Baratis for 16 hrs on Mughal road

POONCH, June 30: At least 22 members of a marriage party from Qazimorha in Poonch were detained on Mughal road near Bafliaz by policemen in view of car rally for about 16 hours today.
This Barat of one Zaffar Iqbal, son of Akbar Hussain, resident of Qazimorha in Poonch left for Uri in district Baramulla via Mughal Road at around 12 midnight, instead of today morning due to proposed car rally on this route today.
Parents of the bridegroom said that they had met SSP Poonch two days back that the Barat of their son is also scheduled on June 30, the day when car rally is being organized on this route. They said the SSP directed to leave early at around 11-12 pm and cover the Mughal road before 6 am today.
They said as per instructions of the SSP they left at around 12.15 midnight and when they reached at Bufliaz, they were stopped by the securitymen. They alleged that cops refused to listen that they have been asked by district police chief to use this road before 6 am. They alleged that entire Barat including children remained stranded on the road for over 16 hours and the administration remained unmoved.
