Thieves target 6 shops; decamp with cash, costly goods

SAMBA, July 8: Thieves targeted six shops one after the other late last night and decamped with cash and goods. As soon as the shopkeepers came to know about this in the morning, they were shocked.

The thieves have committed the theft at a distance of just a few meters from the Samba Main Chowk. All the shops are within a radius of just 500 meters from the Main Chowk. The thieves have broken the shutters of all the shops by using the iron rod or jack. After this incident, an atmosphere of fear has gripped the shopkeepers and they said that if this is the condition around the main square, then how can other places be safe?
They said that the Main Chowk is guarded by police 24 hours a day.
On getting information about the incident, SHO Samba, Sandeep Charak reached the spot with FSL team members and other officers and started investigation. The help of CCTV cameras installed at other shops was also being taken. The FSL team has started further investigation by collecting evidence from the spot.
Local shopkeeper Shakti Kumar said that “Like every day, we closed our shops and went home. In the morning, another shopkeeper called and informed me about it. As soon as we reached the shop, we saw that the shutter of the shop was broken, after which we informed the police about it. Cash worth Rs 12 thousand and some goods have been stolen from inside the shop’’.
Another shopkeeper, Ishu Khajuria said “As soon as we came to know about this in the morning, we were shocked. We saw that the shutter was broken. A watchman is appointed separately for the market, but he is also not visible,. We are very scared. If this is the condition of the main market, then what will be the condition of other places,’’ he added.
