Home for Aged & Infirm celebrates birth anniversary of its founder Ram Nath

JAMMU, July 9: Home for Aged & Infirm (popularly known as Vridh Ashram) at Ambphalla (Jammu) celebrated 124th birth anniversary of its founder Ram Nath Prabhakar by performing Hawan-Poojan this morning.
All the members of the management as well as inmates of the Home participated in the celebrations. Jyoti Bhalla (grand-daughter of Ram Nath Prabhakar) recited a bhajan and paid tribute to her grand-father. She appreciated the efforts put in by the management to achieve well envisaged aims and objectives by the founder of the Home, late RN Prabhakar.
President of the Home, ID Soni, paid rich tribute to late RN Prabhakar, who retired as Head Master, and devoted his life in service of the poor, aged, neglected and infirm members of the society. He described him as a great visionary who could foresee necessity of such a Home for aged and infirm persons in the ever changing society.
Soni informed that the Institution established on 8th June, 1964 with mere one room was registered as a Society on 20th February, 1965 and now, it has two full fledged buildings facing each other across the road link from Ambphalla Chowk to Goushala having capacity to comfortably accommodate around 90 aged persons. Presently, the Home has 49 inmates including 20 females while it has served upto 76 inmates in the past.
“A Physiotherapic Care Centre has been set up for the inmates in the Home and this facility has been extended to other senior citizens as well at nominal charges,” he added.
Among others who participated in the programme include representatives of some reputed local NGOs, members of the Society JL Zutshi (retired Chief Engineer), SK Jain (State Yoga Commissioner), patron Prem Gupta (former IGP), managing committee members Nirmala Zutshi, Pankaj Gupta, Jugal Kishore Gupta, Sat Pal Sharma, Harbans Singh (vice-president) and RC Vaid.
