RAJOURI, July 10: A scooty rider was crushed to death by a vehicle on Rajouri- Thannamandi road near Rajouri town here today.
Official sources said that incident took place near Kheora on Wednesday morning. Mahtab Malik, a resident of Darhal, in Rajouri, just came out of a shop with some goods on his scooty. As he drove on the road, a speeding Tata mobile vehicle coming from behind pushed him from the behind.
The eyewitnesses said that Tata Mobile vehicle was running at such a high speed that it did not stop even after the collision and the scooty driver fell down and the rear tyre of the vehicle went over his head. In this tragic accident, Mahtab died on the spot.
Some people present on the spot immediately took him to GMC Rajouri where the doctor declared him as brought dead. Tata Mobile driver fled the spot with the vehicle after the accident and the police launched a manhunt to arrest him.
The police handed over the body of the deceased to the family after conducting the post-mortem and completing other legal formalities.
