KANGRA, July 10: Senior J&K Congress leader, Ravinder Sharma has said that J&K needs similar legal safeguards as are availed by the people of Himachal and North East regarding land and jobs.
Talking to reporters here today, Sharma said that J&K Congress would fight for the same.
“A law which is good for the people of Himachal and North-East, is also good for the people of J&K, who have the right to seek the legal and constitutional safeguards for land, jobs and natural resources, which are brazenly exploited post August 5, 2019,” he maintained.
The Congress leader further said that the people of J&K have a strong case and various parameters like Himachal Pradesh and North-East for getting such safeguards.
“The identity, culture, land and resources of HP are protected till now because of the legal safeguards enjoyed by it from the wanton purchase of land by outsiders due to Section 118 of the law enacted in 1972,” he continued adding: “BJP fulfilled its political agenda of abrogation of Article 370 without any broad consultations and totally removed the legal protections as a result of which Jammu region became worst sufferer.”
Sharma claimed that Congress would bag all the three assembly seats which went to by-polls today after the resignation of three independent MLAs from Dehra, Nalagarh and Hamirpur.
