JAMMU, Mar 29 : To ensure the victory of coalition candidate, Ghulam Nabi Azad, who is contesting elections from Doda-Udhampur constituency, Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand along with National Conference’s former Minister and sitting MLA, from Vijaypur Assembly segment, Surjit Singh Slathia addressed a joint gathering of NC-Congress workers and supporters at Ramnagar.
Tara Chand highlighted the remarkable achievements of Coalition Government in the State and UPA at Centre under the leadership of Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi and Union Minister for Health Ghulam Nabi Azad. He said the past 10 years of Congress led UPA are the golden era of development as historic steps have been taken to benefit the people with introduction of new schemes and laws.
While lauding the leadership of Ghulam Nabi Azad, Tara Chand said that opening of new Medical Colleges, Cancer Institutes, health centres, and extension of National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) in the State shows the commitment, dedication and love of Azad towards the people of Jammu and Kashmir, adding that even in the short tenure of his Chief Ministership, State witnessed tremendous development and still people called his tenure a ‘Golden Era’ be it in Kashmir or Jammu.
He said initiative of new administrative units was taken in Mr Azad’s tenure who created districts and later Coalition Government under the leadership of Chief Minister completed the envisioned dream.
He appealed the people to vote for Ghulam Nabi Azad, who is the bright face and his victory will take state to a logical conclusion in every sphere.
In his address, National Conference MLA and former Minister, Surjit Singh Slathia also highlighted the achievements of Coalition Government and attacked the troublesome forces in destabilizing the brotherhood on the basis of caste, creed and religion. He said National Conference-Congress has worked for people with a commitment and dedication and has never discriminated the people. He asked the people for the victory of Ghulam Nabi Azad with record number of votes. Mr Slathia even said that Congress-NC is all focused for the all round development of the State, thereby Chief Minister himself has said that he will campaign for Ghulam Nabi Azad.
