LG admin plays pivotal role in preserving J&K cultural heritage: Martand

JAMMU, July 11: Trustee of Amar Mahal Museum and the Hari Tara Charitable Trust and Trustee of J&K Dharmarth Trust, Martand Singh has said that J&K Administration under the leadership of Lt. Governor, Manoj Sinha is playing a pivotal role in preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage of J&K.
He talked about Government’s initiatives aimed at preserving and promoting historical sites, monuments, festivals and traditions that hold significant cultural and heritage value.
In a statement, Singh said that the Tourism Department headed by Commissioner Secretary, Yasha Mudgal is steadfast in support to various cultural and socio-religious events across the region.
He highlighted the role of Deputy Director, Sunaina Sharma in bolstering community festivities like Sudh Mahadev Mela in Udhampur, Sarthal Devi Yatra in Kishtwar, Mela Patt in Bhaderwah and development of temples at Purmandal and Utter Behni in Samba.
Martand Singh has also recently visited Sir Pratap Singh (SPS) Museum in Srinagar and was impressed by its excellent maintenance, highlighting a strong commitment to preserve the rich cultural heritage of J&K.
Singh also met Additional District Development Commissioner, Jammu, Sher Singh to discuss the upgradation, restoration and renovation plans for Amar Mahal Palace Museum complex and the ADDC assured him full support.
Martand Singh also met Sangeeta Sharma, Deputy Director, Archives, Archaeology & Museums and conveyed his appreciation for the department’s diligent efforts in conserving archaeological sites and artefacts. “As custodians of our cultural heritage, it is our collective responsibility to ensure that these invaluable assets are safeguarded and celebrated,” remarked Martand Singh.
He further said: “The government’s support and collaborative efforts with organizations like ours are crucial in achieving this goal.”
