BILLAWAR, July 11: Expressing serious concern over the recent terrorists attack in Badnota area of Lohai Malhar in Billawar and other parts of Jammu region, former Minister Dr Manohar Lal Sharma today said that there was urgent need to review security measures and adopt pro-active approach to crush terrorism.
Addressing public meeting at Mandli in Billawar constituency today, Manohar expressed serious concern over the increasing militant activities in the region. He alleged that present regime has failed to contain terrorism in Jammu region.
Referring to deteriorating security situation and the administration’s failure to effectively curb terrorism, Manohar alleged that terror attacks in Jammu region have exposed the negative narrative created by the administration about the end of terrorism in J&K. He said the spike in terror activities is a matter of grave concern for one and all.
“It is alarming to see that despite numerous assurances and tall claims by the administration, the ground reality paints a very different picture. The people of Jammu region continue to live in fear, and the lack of concrete action is deeply disheartening”, he added.
“The Government should strengthen intelligence network, enhance coordination among security agencies, and ensure that security personnel are adequately equipped and supported”, he said. He urged for an urgent review of the security measures and a more pragmatic approach to tackle terrorism.
Manohar further said that being a representative of the people, he has been pursuing all those connected with development to give push to the schemes and projects aimed at the overall development and welfare of various areas.
“The BJP-led government at the Centre has miserably failed to live up to the expectations of the people. There is a strong resentment among people against the government as the BJP leadership has failed to fulfill its promises that were made during elections. The BJP has played with the sentiments of the people who voted them to power,” he said.
He expressed concerns over rising unemployment and various scandals, including recruitment scams, the NEET scam, and the cancellation of UGC exams, which have left the youth disillusioned. He said that the BJP government at the Centre is playing with the futures of our young generation. Many former Sarpanches and other people attended the meeting.
