LEH, July 16: A delegation from the Central Tibetan Administration, headed by Sikyong Penpa Tsering, today met with Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, at the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat.
The meeting, attended by prominent officials including Advisor Dr Pawan Kotwal, ADGP Ladakh Dr SD Singh Jamwal and Commissioner Secretary L Franklin, focused on enhancing support for Tibetans in exile.
During the meeting, Sikyong Penpa Tsering highlighted the mission of the Central Tibetan Administration, emphasizing its role in supporting Tibetans worldwide under the spiritual guidance of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. He noted the presence of Tibetan communities in 25 countries, with 37 locations across India.
Addressing the Lieutenant Governor, Sikyong Penpa Tsering outlined the election process of the Central Tibetan Administration and underscored the importance of collaboration for developmental projects, particularly in the Changthang region.
He sought the UT Administration’s support in prioritizing and implementing initiatives aimed at improving the lives of Tibetan residents.
In response, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) expressed keen interest in supporting these efforts, requesting a prioritized list of development projects from Sikyong Penpa Tsering. This, he stated, would facilitate effective engagement and timely execution of developmental works.
The Lieutenant Governor also directed the Chief Representative Officer of Sonamling Tibetan Settlement in Choglamsar, Leh, to coordinate closely with the Advisor to streamline and prioritize these initiatives.
The meeting concluded with both parties affirming their commitment to fostering collaboration and advancing the welfare of the Tibetan community in Ladakh.
