JAMMU, July 20: In keeping with its long history of promoting Indian Classical and Semi-Classical devotional music, Panjvaktra Mahadev Mandir held a press conference today to announce the celebration of Sawan Mahotsav – 2024.
The temple has a storied history of organizing significant cultural events, including Sawan Mahotsav, Sharad Mahotsav, and Mahashivratri Mahotsav, aiming to revive the age-old traditions of temples in Jammu.
Suresh Kumar Sharma (Retd. Session Judge) and Receiver of Panjvaktra Mahadev Mandir, briefed the media on the temple’s illustrious past. He said that Panjvaktra Mahadev Mandir is one of the most ancient and revered temples in Jammu, has been a cornerstone of spiritual and cultural life for centuries.
He said this year’s Sawan Mahotsav will feature a series of events and programs designed to immerse devotees in spiritual bliss. Renowned nationally and internationally acclaimed singers will present devotional songs every Monday from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm, immediately following the Aarti. These performances will take place on all five Mondays of Sawan, offering a unique opportunity for the community to experience the spiritual and cultural richness of Indian devotional music.
Suresh Kumar Sharma emphasized the temple’s commitment to popularizing Indian Classical and Semi-Classical devotional music, striving to revive the ancient tradition of temples serving as cultural centres. Through these initiatives, the temple seeks to foster a deeper connection with our heritage and traditions.
He invited everyone to participate in the celebration of Sawan Mahotsav. Ashutosh Sharma, Raj Kumar, Pankaj Pradhan, Amarjeet Singh, Dr. Mukteshi Sharma (Renowned Singers and Musicians), Sanjay Tickoo, Senior Architect ( Retd), Deepak Kumar (Founder/ Director Rangyug), Anil Gupta, and a large number of prominent devotees were also present on the occasion.
