JAMMU, Apr 1: Additional Sessions Judge Jammu, Sanjay Gupta today awarded 10 years rigorous imprisonment and fine of Rs 1 lakh each to Nazir Ahmed, son of Ali Mohammad of Digiana, Barkat Ali, son of Kirpa Ram of RS Pura and Amrik Singh, son of Gian Singh of R S Pura, who were facing trial under NDPS Act.
After hearing both the sides, the Court observed, “drugs menace has ruined the society. This menace has caused serious problems to national Government”, adding “all the offences under NDPS Act are heinous in nature and are required to be dealt with iron hard”.
With these observations, Court awarded 10 years RI and fine of Rs 1 lakh each to three narco smugglers.
