BANDIPORA, July 21: The Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Shakeel ul Rehman, on sunday visited the far-flung Wevan- the remotest village of Tehsil Bandipora to have interactions with the locals and to take spot assessment of the functionality of basic public amenities.
The visit was also aimed to take a firsthand appraisal of the challenges faced by the public and to provide immediate administrative interventions wherever required.
Among the concerns highlighted by the locals were electricity shortages, network connectivity problems, road alignment issues, and other matters of public importance.
The need for a 24/7 operational first-aid health center for the area.
Interacting with the public, the Deputy Commissioner said that residents voiced legitimate concerns and that the administration is committed to addressing them swiftly and effectively. He said ensuring the well-being and convenience of the general public is the priority of the administration.
The DC gave on-the-spot directions for the redressal of various issues and urged officers of the concerned departments to prioritise grievances based on urgency and impact on the general public.
During his visit, the DC also inspected the under-construction Athwatoo-Wevan road. He reviewed the progress of the work and emphasized the importance of timely completion to improve connectivity for the residents of Wevan. Pertinently, with the completion of ongoing road, the village will get first-time ever all weather road connectivity.
The Deputy Commissioner was accompanied by Executive Engineer PMGSY Naib Tehsildar and other concerned officers.
