Sobat Ali demands local body elections to address public issues

JAMMU, July 21: People of Bhatindi-Chowadi-Sunjwan area here today organised a meeting which was chaired by senior DPAP leader and former Councillor of JMC, Sobat Ali Choudhary.
Speakers in the meeting raised the issues of water and power crisis and chocking of drains and water logging formed at different places.
While addressing the meeting Sobat Ali urged upon the Lieutenant Governor of J&K, Manoj Sinha and the election authorities to conduct local body elections as soon as possible so that issues of the common public are resolved.
He said that drains and big nallahs in different parts of Jammu get chocked and in the ongoing rainy season these overflows creating unhygienic conditions.
Ali also said that many street lights in Jammu are not functioning for the last many months and nothing has been done by the concerned authorities to correct them.
He said that in the absence of elected local bodies in J&K many issues of the public remain unaddressed.
The DPAP leader also said that the authorities concerned should also look into the issue of pensions for old age persons, widows and physically challenged persons which were stopped due to certain reasons.
