Few showers expose poor quality of roads in Jammu: Jayesh

JAMMU, July 21: Socio-political activist Jayesh Gupta has flayed the J&K administration for poor quality of roads in Jammu, which he said have been exposed by few Monsoon showers.
Addressing a press conference here today, Jayesh Gupta said the few showers has punctured the city roads in Jammu and one can imagine what will be the condition of these roads after heavy rains as the Monsoon season has just started.
“Most of these roads were blacktopped or repaired just in last 3 and 4 months and now, big potholes have appeared on them which speak about the poor quality of material used by the contractors while blacktopping/repairing these city arteries,” he alleged.
Jayesh said, “Good roads are essential not only for convenience of the commuters and risk-free commuting, but they are also the face of a city. A look at the roads of a city gives a clear impression to an outsider on what kind of place he is getting into but the present administration is least concerned about that.”
He said similar is the condition of roads on city outskirts. The real picture of Jammu Smart City has been exposed by the few Monsoon showers, Jayesh said. He alleged that accountability of the concerned PWD engineers should be fixed as without their involvement or negligence, contractors cannot dare to use poor quality material in blacktopping/ repairing of roads.
Jayesh urged the UT administration to look into the issue and take stern action against such contractors and engineers. He also requested for filling up these potholes without any delay as they may cause fatal road accidents.
