11 members elected to Jammu Club Executive Committee

JAMMU, July 21: Eleven individuals have been elected to the executive committee of the Jammu Club following the announcement of the club’s election results today.
Established in 1870, the Jammu Club has a rich history of hosting dignitaries, including heads of State and celebrities.

As per figures available with the Excelsior, a total of 2,754 members cast their votes at nine polling booths to elect 11 out of the total 22 candidates in fray.
The highest number of votes, 1,788, went to Pooja Kohli, followed by Indu Puri with 1,730 votes, and Sidharth Samnotra with 1,720 votes.

Other elected members include Dr Ritesh Gupta (1,664 votes), Kavita Gupta (1,617), Vikram Dhawan (1,585), Dr Meenakshi Kotwal (1,546), Dr Hema Gandotra Jandial (1,510), Ashwani Gupta (1,463), Ashok Gandotra (1,424), and Karan Khosa (1,351).
Those who could not make it to the executive committee of the club include Iqbal Singh (1,305 votes), Rajan Gupta (1,249), Sanjay Kakkar (1,234), Ashok Sharma (1,215), Karan Anand (1,212), Dr Sandeep Singh (1,173), Dr Dushyant Choudhary (1,017), Dr Varinder Sharma (993), Jai Gopal Mengi (973), Rakesh Sharma (869), and Rajinder Kumar Bali (864).
Out of the total votes, 2,682 were declared valid, while 72 votes were invalidated.
The election was overseen by Returning Officer Vinod Gupta, with Ejaz Ahmed Tak and Manmohan Singh as Election Advisors.
Earlier in the day, Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar, presided over the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the club, appreciating the tenure of the previous committee. Gaurav Gupta, Secretary of the Jammu Club, who also attended the AGM, highlighted the achievements of the previous committee.
It is important to mention here that the newly elected members will later elect the club’s Secretary following the nomination of four candidates by the Government. The new members are elected for a term of two years (2024-26).
