JAMMU, July 22: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Jammu Kashmir (UT) senior leader and former JMC councillor, Sanjay Kumar Baru visited Surya Vihar area of Jammu West Assembly constituency and listened to the problems faced by local residents. BJP local leaders Jatin Sethi, Bodhraj, Lokesh Bhagat and Surya Vihar BJP booth president Kewal Sharma accompanied him.
While talking to the former councilor, the local people said that due to the low level of the streets being below the road, water accumulates at many places during rainy days, so proper deep drains should be constructed as soon as possible.
They also said that many of the street lights installed by JMC are also not working and despite repeated complaints, JMC electricians are not repairing them.
The BJP leader while interacting with the people said that work worth Rs 37 lakh has been sanctioned for the construction of new drains in Surya Vihar and the work will be started in the next few days, after which the work of laying blacktopping in the entire locality will also be done.
Baru said that this work was given priority in March but due to the Lok Sabha elections and the code of conduct, this work got delayed. As far as the issue of negligence on the part of JMC is concerned, Baru said that he has talked to Jammu Municipal Corporation Commissioner, Rahul Yadav in detail about all these issues and he has assured that strict action will be taken against the employees who do this.
Baru assured that the development works that were left earlier will be completed in the third term of Modi Government. He said our focus will be on providing houses to the people without roofs in the urban units coming under PMAY.
