NGO Saksham honours Kargil war heroes, their families

JAMMU, July 24: In a heartfelt tribute to the brave soldiers who fought in the Kargil War, Saksham Jammu and Kashmir organized a one-day program at Trikuta Yatri Niwas, here today to honor army veterans who sustained critical injuries during the conflict resulting in disabilities, as well as the families of those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
The event was a solemn and poignant gathering, attended by dignitaries, retired military officers, Government officials and their families. The program commenced with a ceremonial honor of the veterans and martyrs families and lighting of a remembrance flame, symbolizing the eternal gratitude of the nation towards its heroes.
On the occasion, distinguished guests, including high-ranking retired military officers and local government officials spoke about the immense sacrifices made during the Kargil War. Retired army colonel Bhaskar spoke on his experience on Kargil war. Nagar Mal, a RSS functionary through his poem paid respect to the army soldiers who sacrificed their today for our happy tomorrow.
National joint secretary of Saksham, Abhay Pargal highlighted the achievements of Saksham Pan India and its effective efforts to support the Indian army personnel who became ‘divyangs’ during the Kargil War while Satish Singh Manhas Assistant (Director and Columnist) highlights achievements of Indian army.
Special tributes were also paid to the veterans who were critically injured in the war. Besides, mothers, wives and sisters of the martyrs were honored with mementoes, shawls, sweets and certificates of appreciation. A series of cultural performances, including patriotic songs and recitation of poetry by local artists and school children added a poignant touch to the event.
On the occasion, Saksham J&K announced new initiatives aimed at providing financial aid, healthcare and vocational training to the disabled veterans and ensuring that the families of the martyrs receive continuous support.
Saksham State president Pawan Singh, Dr BD Sharma (patron, J&K) and Swami Vishvanatham (RSS) were also present in this event.
