UDHAMPUR, July 25: District Congress Committee Udhampur under the joint leadership of DCC president Vinod Khajuria and working president Sumeet Magotra organized a protest demonstration against BJP led government at the Centre for its failure to control terrorist attacks and providing extra powers to Lt Governor in J&K.
The protest demonstration commenced from Dhar Road, Udhampur and and the party workers and leaders marching on foot reached the Office of Deputy Commissioner, where they blocked Dhar Road and sat on dharna. Demonstrators were raising slogans against LG of J&K UT and BJP for rise in militant attacks in the UT, especially in Jammu region. They were also demanding restoration of Statehood to the Jammu and Kashmir.
JKPCC, general secretary and incharge Udhampur district Balbir Singh was also present during the demonstration.
While addressing the gathering Balbir Singh expressed that LG of J&K UT has adopted the anti- people policies. DCC president Vinod Khajuria alleged that BJP led Union Government has betrayed the people of Jammu and Kashmir by degrading its status from State to UT.
While addressing the gathering Sumeet Magotra expressed that it is shocking to note that the incidents of militancy are creasing in the region and the Government remained helpless to control these incidents.
He disclosed that Congress has organized these protest demonstration at District level in J&K UT. District Administration closed the main gate of the Deputy Commissioner office when they observed protest.
When the Congress activists were trying to forcibly enter the main gate of the DC office they were not allowed and the cops showed the touch resistance. The police then arrested Balbir Singh, Krishan Chander Bhagat, Sumeet Magotra, Vinod Khajuria, Rajinder Singh Jamwal, Abhay, Mukesh Kumar, Shivam Sharma and others. They were, however, released later.
