JAMMU, July 25: A seminar on the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (PoSH) at the Workplace, organised by the MIET School of Law and FICCI FLO JKL in collaboration with the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), was held here today.
Bala Jyoti, Special Judge Anti-Corruption (CBI Cases) Jammu & Chairperson of the Gender Sensitization Internal Complaints Committee-1, was the Chief Guest.
Ruchika Gupta, Chairperson of FICCI FLO JKL and Joint Director MIET, along with Varuna Anand, Immediate Past Chair FICCI FLO JKL, and other core team members graced the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Bala Jyoti, in her presidential address provided an in-depth analysis of the modernization of the legal framework and its role in addressing contemporary challenges in India’s criminal justice system.
She emphasized the integration of technology and the need for policy reforms to enhance the efficiency, transparency, and fairness of the system.
Jyoti also offered profound insights into the legal framework surrounding the PoSH Act, discussing significant judgments and guidelines, including the landmark ‘Vishakha’ case.
She interacted with students, offering a comprehensive understanding of the Act’s implications and enforcement.
Deepali Arora, Advocate at J&K High Court and Member of DLSA delivered an impactful presentation on “Women’s Empowerment and Safety in Educational Institutions,” providing valuable insights and perspective on the subject.
The seminar continued with a special address by Uma Kapahi, Advocate at J&K High Court, President of the Human Rights Council of J&K, and Member of DLSA, who shared her expertise and emphasized the importance of safeguarding women’s rights in the workplace.
Prof. Sunita Zalpuri, Dean, MIET School of Law, also shared her insights on the PoSH Act and presented points on the legal attributes and framework of the Act.
The seminar was a significant step towards raising awareness about the PoSH Act and empowering individuals to create a safer and more respectful workplace environment.
Arushi Gupta from the Applied Sciences and Humanities Department compared the proceedings, while Karan Pandoh, Program Manager, MIET School of Law coordinated the event.
