JAMMU, July 25: A deputation of Jammu Kashmir Government Pharmacist Association (JKGPA) met today with Drug Controller Lotika Khajuria, who is also ex-officio President of J&K State Pharmacy Council (JKSPC) and Surinder Mohan Tickoo (Registrar, JKSPC), and apprised them of grievances of the pharmacists.
The delegation was led by Bharat Bhushan Bhagat (president of the Association) along with Sushil Sudan (president, Jammu Kashmir Medical Employees Federation and member Pharmacy Council of India).
Informing Lotika Khajuria and Surinder Mohan Tickoo that certificates are yet to be issued to the pharmacists, who applied many months ago for registration, the delegation members requested them that the registration should be time bound and pending registration certificates should be issued at their earliest. The delegation also emphasized to minimize the formalities for issuing drug licenses.
“As per the Pharmacy Act 1948, the Pharmacy education and profession in India up to graduate level is regulated by PCI,” the delegation said and submitted that Diploma/Degree in Pharmacy should be regulated by JK State Pharmacy Council and the Board should be constituted to regulate Pharmacy Education and all Exams should be brought under the control of JK State Pharmacy Council instead of JK Para Medical Council, and all Government and private colleges should be given registration by Registrar of JK State Pharmacy Council for imparting pharmacy education.
