Army chief reviews preparedness of troops in Kashmir

SRINAGAR, July 25: Army chief General Upendra Dwivedi today visited the Keran sector along the Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir to review the preparedness of the troops involved in counter-infiltration.

In a post on X, the Army stated that the Army chief lauded all ranks for maintaining high standards of professionalism. He exhorted them to remain steadfast in meeting emerging security challenges.
“General Upendra Dwivedi visited the forward locations and reviewed the security situation along the Line of Control. He also interacted with the Commanders and troops on ground,” the Army said.
Five infiltrating militants were killed in the Keran sector of Kupwara this month as the Army foiled two infiltrations bid in the sector. One infiltration bid was foiled on July 18 when two infiltrators were shot dead and another on July 14 when three infiltrators were killed in the Keran sector.
The Army chief was given a detailed presentation about the functioning of the counter-infiltration grid along the LoC at Keran. He was also given a detailed account of infiltration bids that were foiled in the sector this month.
He was told that despite hostile terrain, the troops continue to keep vigil and patrol the LoC round the clock so that infiltration is stopped. He was told that groups of militants are waiting on the launch pads for infiltration and troops are alert to foil their designs.
An official said that the Army chief lauded the troops for their vigil along the LoC in preventing infiltration. He asked them to remain alert to foil the enemy designs as they did in the past.
The Army chief was also briefed by the Commanders at the 15th Corps headquarters about the operational preparedness of the troops in the hinterland to tackle the militancy. He was told that the Army is proactive and is continuously conducting intelligence-based operations across the Valley.
After arriving here yesterday, General Dwivedi, along with Lt Governor Manoj Sinha, GOC-in-C Northern Command, Chinar Corps Commander, civil dignitaries and all ranks of Chinar Corps paid homage to Naik Dilawar Khan, who laid down his life during an anti-terror operation in Kupwara.
The Chief of Army Staff later left for Kargil to take part in the silver jubilee celebrations of Kargil Vijay Diwas.
