JAMMU, July 28: In a strong show of dissent against the current administration’s policies in UT of Jammu and Kashmir, the Congress Party organized a massive protest at the Main Chowk, Janipur in the Jammu North Assembly segment today.
The protest was led by the National general secretary of the Indian Youth Congress (IYC), Uday Bhanu Chib along with local leaders and the general public from Ward No 37 of Jammu North. The protestors were raising loud slogans against the PDD, UT Administration and BJP.
Talking to media-persons on the occasion, Uday Chib, former PYC president, voiced the growing frustration among residents over the installation of smart meters, which have failed to deliver a regular power supply. “Despite the installation of smart meters, people are still not getting a regular power supply,” he stated.
“The residents are being burdened with exorbitant bills, and no one is addressing their concerns,” he added.
Uday Chib further criticized the administration, adding, “No one is listening to the people’s issues. The residents are suffering immensely under the BJP regime.”
IYC leader called for immediate action to rectify these issues, urging the authorities to prioritize the welfare of the citizens and ensure a reliable power supply at reasonable rates. He appealed to the people of Jammu to support Congress Party in the ensuing Assembly elections to get rid of hollow policies of present dispensation.
The senior Congress leader criticized the government over the imposition of property tax, expressing that such policies are adding to the financial burden of the common people. “The government’s decision to implement property tax is unjust and further strains the already burdened populace,” he remarked.
Chib demanded the restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, emphasizing that the people’s sentiments and aspirations must be respected. “Restoration of statehood is a critical demand. The people of Jammu and Kashmir deserve their rightful status and governance,” he asserted.
The protest saw active participation from several other prominent leaders and supporters, including Rajni Bala, HS Baggi, Surinder Kumar, Som Nath, Parshotam Singh, Parveen Akthar, Fiaz Diwan, Shahbaz, Pummy Manhas, Kamal Singh, Jung bhadur and Ranjodh Singh.
