JAMMU, July 29: The Jammu Police today presented challan against Sharat Puri, Mehmood Sheikh (IPS retd), Ravinder Gupta alias Gola Shah, Parshotam Singh, Sachin Patiyal, Darvinder Pal Singh, Suraj Singh, Varun Kumar, Rajat Jandiyal, Vikas Singh, Jaypreet Singh alias Honey, Sandeep Charak, Gambhir Singh, Vishal Singh, Poonam Kumari and Raghunadan in the Greater Kailash murder case.
On 30.04.2024, a written complaint on behalf of Jagir Singh, son of Sardar Singh of Santokh Vihar Kalu-Chak was received at Police Station Gangyal for registration of FIR against Parshotam Singh, son of Gian Singh of Karthol, Ravinder Kumar alias Gola Shah and his son Rakshat, Sheikh Mehmood, son of Sheikh Ghulam Mustafa and others.
It was submitted that brother of applicant was in possession of land measuring 33 marlas under Khewat No 13, Khata No 97 Khasra No 6min which respect of which civil suits were pending before the court and his brother received an information that police personnel along with some accused persons were trying to dispose of his brother’s property.
The applicant along with his brother, Bhabi and nephew namely Avtar Singh reached the spot and protected their possession. In the meanwhile, other accused persons reached the spot along with son of Gola Shah and attacked the complainant and other family members in the presence of PSI Puneet Sharma. In the attach, Avtar Singh received grievous injuries.
On this complaint, FIR No. 39/2024 under Sections 307/323/447/147/IPC was registered at P/S Gangyal and investigation was started by PSI Aaqib Lateef, who visited GMC Jammu for recording the statement of Avtar Singh, son of Balbir Singh of Santokh Vihar Kunjwani but by then the victim had succumbed to the injuries. Accordingly, offence under Section 302/IPC was incorporated in the FIR. Later, a Special Investigation Team was constituted under the supervision of ASP Kartik Shrotriy, SDPO Gandhi Nagar.
After completion of investigation, police today presented challan in the court of City Judge Jammu mentioning that offences under Sections 302, 323, 447, 147 read with Section 120B of IPC and Section 506 IPC stand proved against Sharat Puri, Sheikh Mehmood, Ravinder Gupta, Parshotam Singh and Sachin Patiyal; offences under Section 302 read with Section 109 IPC and Section 447, 448, 147, 427, 461, 201, 506, 34 IPC stand proved against Darvinder Pal Singh, offences under Sections 302, 323, 447, 147, 34 IPC against Suraj Singh, offences under Sections 302, 307, 323, 447, 147, 34 IPC against Varun Kumar, offences under Sections 302, 323, 447, 147 read with Section 109 IPC against Rajat Jandiyal, offences under Sections 323, 447, 147, 34 IPC stand proved against Vikas Singh, Jaypreet Singh, Sandeep Charak, Gambhir Singh and Vishal Singh.
It is worthwhile to mention here that separate charge-sheet will be filed against Jaypreet Singh@ Honey, Vikas Singh, Poonam Kumari and Ghambir Singh as they are currently evading their arrest.
In the challan it has been submitted that inaction and dereliction of duty of (then I/C PP Greater Kailash) PSI Puneet Sharma has come to the fore.
