Substantial budget allocation to UT will strengthen, modernize JKP: Sunil Sethi

JAMMU, July 30: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) senior leader and chief spokesperson, Sunil Sethi today said the substantial allocation in Union Budget to J&K will help strengthen and modernize the JKP in its fight against terrorists, particularly at a time when Pakistan is making all-out efforts to revive terrorism here.
Participating in budget discussions organsied by BJP Jammu district South president, Rekha Mahajan here, today Sunil Sethi said the Union Budget will also contribute towards bolstering VDGs. He also appreciated the allocation of substantial funds for completion of Jammu and Srinagar Smart City Projects and the change in tax slabs offering income tax relief for the middle class, particularly the salaried class and pensioners.
Former MLC, Charanjit Singh Khalsa, State secretary BJP, Ayodhya Gupta, Prabhari district Jammu, Rajiv Charak, and all BJP Cells Co-Incharge, Ved Sharma were also present.
Sunil Sethi stated, as far as J&K is concerned, the UT has got a Rs 1,18,390 crore budget for the financial year of 2024-25. For the first time, J&K has been allocated a whopping over Rs 42,000 crore in Central assistance, including Rs 12,000 crore for Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP). Sethi while highlighting the provisions of the Union Budget, said, “The seventh Union Budget 2024-25 of Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman has unveiled new hopes and innovative policies of the Government. The budget is all-inclusive, encompassing provisions for all sections of society. With Rs 2 lakh crore outlay for job creation schemes, it focuses on the generation of 2.90 lakh new jobs for the youth; as a part of the skill-enhancement programme, around one crore youth will be provided internship opportunities”, he added.
In her presidential address, Rekha Mahajan, lavished praise on Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman. She highlighted that under the leadership of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, Finance Minister, has presented a budget that is truly people-centric,. “The budget’s emphasis on education, healthcare, and infrastructure development will benefit all sections of society.” Rekha Mahajan highlighted the budget’s key initiatives, including increased allocation for education and skill development, enhanced healthcare facilities and insurance coverage, a boost to infrastructure development, including roads, railways, and airports, etc.
