Court acquits Patwari in trap case

JAMMU, July 30: Special Judge Anti-Corruption Rajouri-Poonch districts Mehmood Chowdhary has acquitted Patwari Halqa Kandi Altaf Ahmed, who was booked for allegedly demanding and accepting bribe for preparing a revenue document.
After hearing both the sides, the court observed, “the prosecution has miserably failed to prove the initial demand as well as demand at the time of trap. The prosecution has also failed to prove the acceptance of the bribe money by the accused which is sine qua non for bringing home guilt of the accused for commission of offence Under Section 5(2) J&K Prevention of Corruption Act read with Section 161 RPC”.
“The prosecution also could not prove the recovery of the bribe money either from the possession of the accused or from the place”, court observed while acquitting the accused of the charges framed against him for commission of offence Under Section 5(2) J&K Prevention of Corruption Act read with Section 161 RPC.
