Information Dept. Leh organises skill enhancement training for EJM College Journalism students and department staff

Leh, July 30: A skill enhancement training for the Mass Communication & Journalism students of EJM College Leh and staff of DIPR Leh was organised by the Department of Information and Public Relations Leh, UT Ladakh today.

Executive Councillor, Information, LAHDC, Leh, Stanzin Chosphel, was the chief guest on the occasion and Administrative Secretary, Information ,Vikram Singh Malik was also present during the inaugural session.

Addressing the gathering, Executive Councillor, Stanzin Chosphel said that Ladakh after becoming a UT has set up a new UT level mechanism in which the role of journalists has become significant.

Highlighting the importance of documentation, he impressed upon the skill of good writing and urged the students to take advantage of such trainings to attain knowledge to be a good writer. He advised the students to do lot of writing and equip themselves with relevant information and necessary skills to excel in the field of mass communication and journalism.

He also appreciated the initiatives taken by Information Department headed by the Joint Director, Imteeaz Ahmad Kacho by organising such trainings and workshops for the media fraternity including the future journalists.

Director College Affairs, UoL Prof Tashi Dawa, Principal, EJM College, Leh Dr Samina Iqbal and Rinchen Dolma, AIO, IPR who were presented on the occasion also spoke and shared their views about the importance of the training.

Dr Tsewang Namgail, Director, SLC-IT and Sunetro Ghosal, Editor Stawa were the resource persons for the training.

In the first session, Sunetro Ghosal briefed about the opportunities, challenges, ethics, skills and digital interventions, etc. in journalism.

Similarly, in the second session, Director SLC-IT, Dr Tsewang Namgyal spoke on bridging the gap between science and society, environmental journalism, key environmental issues in Ladakh among others.

The training session was attended by around 30 students of Mass Communication and Journalism, EJM College and staff of Information Department Leh.

At the end, AIO Rinchen Dolma presented the vote of thanks.
