SRINAGAR, July 31: After the Health & Medical Education (H&ME) Department directed registration on the generic software for Medico Legal Examination and Postmortem Report System (MedLeaPR), SKIMS, Soura today also asked its doctors to follow suit and ensure registration by the set deadline.
As per the directives issued by the Medical Superintendent, all doctors at SKIMS Soura, including Senior Residents, Post Graduates, Junior Residents, and Postdoctoral students, have been directed to register on the software.
The doctors have been asked to ensure their registration in consultation with the Nodal Officer MedLeaPR, SKIMS, Dr. Shahnawaz Hamid Khan, Assistant Professor, Hospital Administration, and Incharge of Emergency Medicine.
It should be noted that MedLeaPR, innovative software developed by NIC facilitates the digitalization of Medico-Legal Reports (MLRs) and Postmortem Reports (PMRs) and provides the necessary access security based on the roles and responsibilities of healthcare professionals involved.
While the aim is to make the entire process of MLRs and PMRs digital and secure, the H&ME Department has made registration compulsory for all concerned doctors across J&K.
In this regard, dummy generic software has already been created for the UT of J&K, with all healthcare institutes registered, making the registration of doctors imperative for the timely launch of the MedLeaPR project.
SKIMS, as per the directives, has further noted that non-compliance will be dealt with according to the rules, and appropriate action will be initiated against defaulters.
Earlier, the H&ME Department, in a similar order, stressed that non-compliance would be reported in the form of weekly pendency of registrations by the respective DDOs/Nodal Officers to the Heads of the Health and Medical Education Department, who will initiate appropriate action against the concerned doctors.
While the H&ME Department has advised all Principals of Government Medical Colleges, Government Dental Colleges, and Directors of Health Services Kashmir and Jammu to ensure that all doctors register on software, authorities have also noted that many doctors have not yet registered, which has been viewed seriously.
To date, as per the official details, over 2,500 individual doctors have registered on the portal, with the registration process ongoing at various health institutes, likely to be completed within the deadline.
To facilitate the process of registration and monitor the overall implementation of the project, the H&ME Department has already designated three nodal officers: one in Jammu, one in Kashmir, and one monitoring at the departmental level.
These officers are also involved in the deployment of the software, training doctors across J&K to ensure its successful adoption.
The authorities have designated 31 nodal officers in health institutions to facilitate the process of registration, who can be contacted for guidance and assistance by the doctors.
