Terrorism being allowed to revive in Jammu: Ex-MLC

SUNDERBANI, July 31: Ravinder Sharma former MLC, senior vice president JKPCC and chief spokesperson conducted two days tour of Sunderbani-Kalakote area and took stock of the problems of the people.
Sharma addressed series of meetings at Dharamsal, Solki, Kalakote, Gali, Bhadoge, Mougla, Taryath, Bamlyar, Kalka Mathyani and interacted with the people of different sections of the society besides party workers and others from the most sensitive areas who are facing great hardships due to sudden spurt in the terror activities in recent months, although it was hotting up during past couple of years.
He said that it is a matter of great concern for all in the nation that how terrorism has revived to this extent in Jammu region , which was almost peaceful in the past two decades, barring few incidents in between.
Ex-MLC blamed the BJP led centre government and UT administration for total failure to control terrorism which has taken serious dimensions and jawans getting martyred. There is an atmosphere of fear amongst people due to rise in terrorism in Jammu region.
PCC leader demanded strengthening of BDCs, inclusion of more villages for installation of security pickets, providing semi-automatic guns to BDC members, besides providing jobs to local youths in police, paramilitary forces and army.
He said that the Prime Minister and Home Minister made commitment to restore statehood but further weakened the institution of CM and council of ministers by snatching of powers of the elected government and vesting in the Lt Governor before elections, as they realised the mood of people against the BJP in elections.
Sharma also expressed great concern over the poor governance and failure to fulfill the basic necessities to people. The development activities are at slow pace and most of genuine works and roads are neglected. The MG NREGA Scheme has been distorted and the genuine people are not getting the benefits besides pick and choose in making payments to job card holders on political and other considerations, he added.
