R K Vihar residents concern over long duration power cuts

JAMMU, July 31: The residents of R K Vihar, Udhewala have expressed their grave concern and resentment against the apathy of Power Development Department (PDD) for imposing long duration power cuts in their locality.
In a statement issued here, today the residents said that people especially old and infirm besides infants condition becomes worrisome due to long duration power cuts. Besides, the power cuts have added to water crisis in the area, they added.
The residents said that despite repeated requests the PDD turns blind eye towards the genuine demand of the people to improve power supply in the area in this hot and humid weather.
They warned that if PDD failed to improve power supply in the area, they will be forced to take to streets and the Department will be responsible for any untoward incident.
They also appealed to Lt Governor to look into the issue and issue directives to PDD to redress it on priority so as to provide succor to them especially old age persons.
Meanwhile residents of Barnai and Anuradha Puram Sector One and Two have also expressed concern over the long duration power cuts ad fluctuation. They urged the PDD authorities to improve the power supply in the area which has been fully metered. They said despite department taking regular tariff on inflated rates it has failed to provide round the clock power supply to the area.
