JAMMU, Aug 1: Maintaining that BJP will get a landslide victory in J&K in coming Assembly elections, party co-Incharge of J&K UT, Ashish Sood today said that his party has already started the preparations for elections by holding Tridev and Morcha Sammelans across the UT.

In an exclusive interview to Excelsior, Sood said the BJP will set its narrative and convey its message with more clarity to the masses to counter the “false and baseless narrative” set by Congress and its allies. “We will go to the people on the basis of our performance in the Government. The development agenda of Modi Government that transformed the entire J&K is a key factor that will keep party much ahead of opponents in the coming Assembly poll”, he added.
Accusing Congress and its allies of spreading lies to hoodwink the public opinion and sway away the voters, the BJP senior leader said his party has launched a campaign to counter this false narrative of Congress and its allies. “We will make our workers and supporters clear through statistical data about the so called revival of Congress,” he added.
Sood said the BJP is in a commanding position in J&K and this can be borne by the fact that in 2019 Lok Sabha elections the party won 27 Assembly segments in Jammu region when the Congress is claiming of its revival’ BJP won 29 Assembly segments in Jammu region i.e two more than Lok Sabha poll of 2019 during 2024 LS poll.
Sood said his party will make understand the people to counter false narrative of Congress. Through the Tridev and Morcha Sammelans the party is educating its workers about the same. Lambasting Congress and other INDI Alliance partners, he said they created a narrative that reservations will be abolished by changing the Constitution which had no base.
He said that Congress was never serious on reservations and the Mandal Commission Report in 1988 was not implemented by Rajiv Gandhi Government. His (Rajiv Gandhi’s) statement at that time showed that Congress was never serious for reservations. “It was first non Congress Government led by V P Singh which implemented the Mandal Commission report”, he added.
He said Congress in its 10 years rule under UPA I and II could not reveal the number of minorities and OBCs. Congress diverted the SC and ST Welfare Fund meant for safeguarding minorities interests for its vote bank politics which indicated that Nehru-Gandhi party was never serious for welfare of SCs, STs and OBCs, he added.
Sood also criticised Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi for deviating from the tradition of Parliamentary democracy by raking up caste issue. “He comes, vomits something and runs away,. The hollowness of the ideology, acts and claims of the Congress party have been exposed,” he added.
Sood, while ridiculing Rahul Gandhi’s statement that PM is not from OBC category but belongs to a general category, asked what he wants to prove with it. This way he (Rahul) wanted to address his vote bank without delivering anything to public, the BJP leader added.
“We want to educate people and expose INDI Alliance for its malicious and baseless propaganda”, he said, adding in J&K the Congress and NC should compare the last 10 years development with their over 60 years rule at Centre and in the erstwhile State”. BJP is coming out with full date of the development works done in the last 10 years of the Modi rule in J&K on village, Panchayat, block district and province levels.
Today there is a good network of roads, highways everywhere in J&K while they never paid attention in taking train to Kashmir valley or four-lanning of Jammu -Srinagar National Highway. Even the four lanning of Highways started by Vajpayee Government was stalled by UPA during its Government, he added.
On recent terrorist attacks in Jammu region, Sood said that BJP and Modi Government is committed to zero tolerance on terrorism and those taking to arms against the State will have to face the death in case they fail to leave the guns. “Ours is a clear cut policy on terrorism and BJP as well as Modi Government will have no compromise on terror. Nor will it give a red carpet welcome to terrorists or separatists,” he added.
