Cong Screening Committees framed for J&K, 3 other States

JAMMU, Aug 1: All India Congress Committee president. Mallikarjun Kharge today constituted Screening Committees for the upcoming Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana, Maharashtra and Jharkhand.

These screening committees will prepare the lists of the strong contesting candidates from different Assembly segments of the respective States/UT and forward the same to the Central Election Committee headed by the AICC president.
Sitting Congress MP from Gurdaspur Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa is the Chairman of the Screening Committee for J&K. Two other members are, Anto Antony and Sachin Rao. Rao is AICC Incharge Trainings, and is said to be closer to AICC vice president Rahul Gandhi.
Besides them, AICC general secretary Incharge J&K Bharatsinh Solanki, PCC president Vikar Rasool Wani and AICC secretary Manoj Yadav will be the ex-officio members of this committee.
This will be the arrangement for other States as well, besides CLP leaders will also be the part of this screening committee. In J&K there is no CLP leader at present in the absence of an elected Assembly.
For Haryana State, AICC treasurer Ajay Maken has been appointed as Chairman, while Manickam Tagore, Jignesh Mevani and Srinivas BV (former IYC leader) as Members.
For Maharashtra, AICC general secretary and a very senior Congress leader from Gujarat who used to contest elections against Modi, Madhusudan Mistry has been inducted as Chairman while Saptagiri Shanker Ulaka and Dr Sirivella Prasad as Members.
For Jharkhand State Screening Committee, Girish Chodankar has been appointed as Chairman while Poonam Paswan and Parkash Joshi as Members.
President, MRCC and Leader of Opposition, Maharashtra Legislative Assembly will also be ex-officio members of the Maharashtra Screening Committee.
