POONCH, Aug 1: An elderly person and his wife were seriously injured when a vehicle hit them in Sathra area of Mandi tehsil in Poonch district today.
Official sources said that mishap took place at about 9:40 am on Thursday morning. A bus bearing registration number- JK02AF/6951 coming from LoC village, Gali Pindi to Poonch, when reached Sathra chowk, hit a grocery shop where people were sitting outside, resulting injuries to the two persons.
Both husband and wife were referred to District Hospital Poonch.
Medical Superintendent DH Poonch Dr Nusrat Bhatti said that both husband and wife were having serious legs fractures who were initially treated here and later referred to for advanced treatment to SKIMS Srinager.
The injured were identified as Faiz Mohd (75), son of Din Mohd and his wife Sadiqa Bi (70), residents of Sathra village in Mandi. The Police have taken cognizance of the matter by registering case in Police Station Mandi. Driver of the vehicle escaped after the accident.
