JAMMU, Aug 1: JKPCC general secretary and DDC Member from Suchetgarh, Taranjit Singh Tony today alleged that some people in the JKUT administration were trying their best to shield the accused persons involved in the murder of Avtar Singh at Greater Kailash.
Addressing a press conference at Press Club of Jammu along with family members of Avtar Singh here today, Tony said that police and `some people’ sitting at top position in the J&K Administration are trying their best to shield the murder accused. They are being provided VIP treatment in jail and medical facilities in private nursing homes/hospitals.
The Congress leader said that Late Avtar’s family had expressed satisfaction over the SIT and now a statement has come out that this case will be transferred to CBI. The police has filed challan in the instant case also and the efforts are being made to further drag the case to provide benefit to the Land mafia men, whose kind pin is a noted city contractor.
He alleged that a close relative of the top bureaucrat is big conspirator in the case but he is being shielded by the investigating agency. He alleged that innocent citizen and real owner of the land was murdered by the Land Mafia despite the fact that in his dying declaration he told SHO that he rushed to the Chowki Officer concerned at Greater Kailash on that fateful day and told that Land Mafia people have hired some people and they will kill him but the police officer, did not care and was killed in his presence. But no action has been taken against the said officer. He was not even suspended or attached. The family demanded that SI should also be arrested because he was also part of murder conspiracy.
The family members alleged that prime accused Parshotam was enjoying all facilities in the jail. He and some others arrested were being provided treatment for petty ailments in the private nursing homes where they are freely meeting relatives. The DG Prisons must take cognizance of the matter. Tony alleged that UT Government has failed to control increasing ‘Mafia Raj’ in J&K.
