AKHNOOR, Aug 1: Senior Congress leader and AICC Member Satish Sharma has alleged that BJP has neglected the Chhamb constituency in every respect.
A meeting, organized by local residents of village Mattu in the Chhamb constituency, today brought together prominent persons of the area including Sham Choudhary and Ramesh Verma. The event was chaired by senior Congress leader Satish Sharma, with a large number of Panchayat Mattu residents, who openly pledged their support to the Congress party for the upcoming Assembly elections.
Many speakers at the meeting voiced their concerns, highlighting the BJP’s long-standing neglect of the Chhamb constituency’s development needs. Over the past decade, not a single developmental initiative has been sanctioned, leaving the area’s progress stagnant since Madan Lal Sharma’s tenure. The deteriorating public infrastructure is seen as a clear indication of regression under BJP’s governance. Frustration was expressed over the BJP’s unfulfilled promises, with many attendees stating their readiness to vote against the party in the upcoming elections.
Satish Sharma expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support from the Chhamb constituency. He criticized the BJP for worsening the living conditions of the poor and the common man over the past ten years, while the rich have become richer. Sharma accused the BJP of reducing public relief and implementing policies that favour crony capitalism.
He pointed out that record inflation and high unemployment rates have disrupted the lives of ordinary people and shattered the aspirations of educated youth. Sharma also highlighted the BJP’s failure to fill vacant government positions and criticized the recent constable recruitment advertisement for not providing age relaxation to those who have been waiting for the past 6-7 years. He urged the Lt Governor to resolve the issue of daily wagers. He also noted the absence of budget allocations to address the issues faced by residents of the border belt.
Senior party members Capt Roshan Choudhary, Raj Kumar, Kulvir Singh, Uttam Singh, Master Yashpal, Billa Panch, Sham Lal, Mohinder Singh, ex-Sarpanch Satin Sharma, Capt. Prabh Dayal, Kuldeep Raj Verma, Manjeet Jatt (Secy JKPCC), Prabhu Singh and others also spoke on the occasion.
