SRINAGAR, Apr 5: While launching a direct attack on National Hydro Electric Power Corporation (NHPC), Bharat Sanchar Nigham Limited (BSNL) and Independent Power Producers (IPP’s) the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) today said that these companies are sucking blood of poor people of Jammu and Kashmir and act like erstwhile East India Company here.
The AAP leader and candidate from Srinagar Parliamentary constituency, Dr Raja Muzaffar Bhat, while addressing people in his door to door campaign and party worker meetings in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district said that all these companies must be audited so as to get the factual position about their revenue generation in Jammu and Kashmir.
Muzaffar said, “NHPC is earning billions of rupees annually from our water resources and we are paid peanuts and all the previous Government’s especially the National Conference have failed to take up this issue with Government of India , similarly BSNL has earned a huge revenue from our State since last ten years but its services are so weak that even subscribers cannot make proper phone calls as there is always network problem and weak signal with the BSNL mobile phones and its internet service is so bad.”
He said that a high level enquiry needs to be initiated against both the companies.
Muzaffar added that the Independent Power Producers (IPP’s) who are Delhi, Mumbai or Chandigarh based companies have constructed many Mini Hydro Electric power plants under Build Own Operate and Transfer (BOOT) agreement in various parts of the state, but these companies fail to fulfill their duties which they ought to do under the BOOT agreement.
